You’ve been told that the only way to lose belly fat is to count every calorie and do a million crunches. But you tried all that, and the fat won’t budge. It’s a frustrating situation.
Think belly fat is something that just happens as you get older, and that you’re stuck with it?
Think again.

She loves her new waistline!
Chrumaine tightened up her tummy without a single sit up, and so can you!
The key is to stop storing fat on your belly.
We asked our Weight Loss Coaches what their best tricks were to lose tummy fat…
Just Say NO to these “Healthy” Foods
For many people, it’s not like they are eating a ton of calories. In fact, they are usually on the go and skipping meals. But what they do eat contains way too many simple starches and sugars.
The problem is that they are fooled into thinking the foods they are reaching for will help them lose weight. That’s because of deceptive marketing that has us believing that these foods are ‘healthy.’
For a flatter belly, avoid foods like popcorn, yogurt, granola, juice drinks, vitamin drinks, energy bars, diet shakes, and even low-fat salad dressing—or anything with a low-fat label. These are just junk food in disguise.

KISS Fat Goodbye with This Trim Waistline Tip
In an attempt to get skinny, many people unwittingly set themselves up for belly fat by yo-yo dieting.
Each time you lose weight with another ineffective diet you lose muscle. When you gain the weight back, it all comes back as fat. Now that you have less muscle mass, your body is more apt to deposit that fat right on your belly. Belly fat is dangerous fat, so it’s a double whammy to your health.
Don’t over complicate things. Stick to the foods within the program that you enjoy and are likely to keep you consistent.
Adherence is always number 1 for me. All too often, people give up at a point when they are about to see real progress. Fully commit to your program and you will see results!

Q: What’s Manny’s secret weapon to incinerate belly fat in 10 weeks? A: Eating all his favorite PTF foods! Manny loved how RECON sculpted his body.
What Does Muscle Have to Do With Belly Fat?
For women in particular, if you don’t have a lot of muscle and you eat too many sugars and starches, there is no place for the sugars from food to go except to be converted directly to belly fat.
A daily walk will build just enough muscle –and when you are resting, has an “after-burn” effect that signals your muscles to suck up blood sugar at 20 times the normal rate.

Dr. Mo lost a whopping 8.25 inches from her waist (and trimmed down everywhere else) in 8 weeks!
Ditch These Diets; They Just Pile Fat in All the Wrong Places
Low-fat, calorie-restricted, and cardboard food diets are the worst at piling on fat. Strict diets based on poor quality foods might initially cause you to lose fat, but they prime your system to lock fat in your trouble areas where you desperately want to lose.
Ditch those diets and just focus on eating meats, eggs, vegetables, nuts, and cheese. These real protein sources help you burn tummy fat, and the whole foods will fuel your body right so you can lose weight from all the right places.

How to Trick Your Hormones to Reduce Belly Fat
Stress causes your body to release cortisol, a hormone that promotes fat storage in the cells of your belly. A diet that is high in starches and sugars only compounds the situation. Too many simple sugars and starches further stress your body out.
Furthermore, we have all been led to believe that if you workout and do a ton of crunches that you will lose fat. Quite the opposite is true; workout sessions longer than 20 minutes start to trigger the release of cortisol and you start storing belly fat.
Stop storing extra fat on your tummy by dropping your cortisol levels. Do this by removing excess sugars, starches, and stressful exercise sessions.

Happy Anniversary to us, Personal Trainer Food and me. Today is not only my 36th wedding anniversary it is also one year since I won the Personal Trainer Food Altered contest with an over 50 pound weight loss. I want PTF to know that everyday of this past year I have thanked you. Thank you for my newfound energy, joy in living my life to the the fullest, respecting food and the choices I have made. When people comment to me that I have taken the weight off and kept it off, my response is always, that with the help of PTF I taught myself to mindfully consider each choice I make of what to put into my body. I feel I have rewawakened in me a power I had suppressed for a long time. You gave me back the life I had so long struggled to regain. My family and I want to thank you, Personal Trainer Food for the opportunity to prove to us that we can do this, we are in control of our own food intake, and you make it easy! I continue to make the wise food choices I learned through PTF. I am not afraid to believe ” I got this”!, Sincerely, From my family to yours, Mary Favia RN

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, MARY AND MEGHAN!
In case you missed it, last year Mary and Meghan won our 2015 Altered Wedding Weight Loss competition. Four brides and their moms competed together to lose weight for their big day.
The thing is that as Mary talked about above, they all gained much more. Niki and I were so honored to be a part of the process to help these women realize their strength and power. Their transformations were nothing short of amazing: http://personaltrainerfoodblog.com/how-would-you-answer-this-it-could-change-everything/
Thanks for the sweet note, Mary! xoxo to you and the family!

My weakness is the overpowering desire to feel stuffed. What good foods can I eat to feel stuffed in the first 2 weeks of the program, until my body and mind makes the adjustment to having no sugars and starches?
Janis Hauser says
Hi Marjorie!
I would add more fats/oils to your meals to help you feel fuller longer. Avocados (or guacamole) are good to add to your meals.
You can also add non-starchy vegetables such as the ones listed here http://personaltrainerfoodblog.com/which-vegetables-actually-burn-fat-youll-be-surprised/
