The WWW is filled with articles about all the latest health crazes and weight loss technology. Gadgets of all sorts are offered to help us get a six-pack and slim thighs in just minutes a day.
But this Ultimate Weight Loss Gadget literally takes the cake.
Yup. What you are seeing in the image is correct. It’s a personal stomach pump that sucks food from your stomach through a port in your body (belly button area).
There is even a promotional video showing a person emptying the contents of their stomach. They screw the device onto their belly and then fill a reservoir bottle full of tap water. Then they attach the reservoir to the pump that has a tube that empties the partially digested food straight into the toilet.
You can see the chunks of food going through as the person is eliminating the meal they had about 20 minutes prior. It is very disturbing, and it just feels wrong watching someone do that.
You can view it here (but you will regret it, trust me):
Of course, there are many concerns about this product and the post-meal ritual. How safe and effective long term could it possibly be? Because there is an opening between one’s stomach and the world, is there is a risk for infection? Every time the tube is opened and the stomach pump is used, there is danger of introducing foreign particles and infectious agents directly into the abdominal cavity.
There are also psychological risks. People might be led into believing that they can simply eat whatever they want without worrying about the long-term effects on their bodies. Overeating, then pumping out the food can mask deeper food-related psychological problems, such as emotional overeating.
Without learning healthy eating habits, this is just teaching people how to binge and then purge with the help of a gadget.
Here is a crazy idea, wait for it….. eat better and healthier!
Every day when you eat, you have a choice to make. You can choose to eat something that will benefit your body or you can choose to eat something that will be so unhealthy that you want it gone before it’s even absorbed into your system.
Choose to eat something that is healthy and good for you, and you don’t need to have it “purged” from your body by a pump attached to a surgical body port. (YUCK!!)
Here is another choice: instead of paying upwards of $10,000 for this surgery and pump, choose to learn about eating healthy foods. Buy some books, take a class, seek help from a nutritionist.
You could try a healthy food program like Personal Trainer Food that teaches lifelong healthy habits. It is a lot less hassle and expense than surgery and stomach-pumping several times a day. You get great food and the help of a Weight Loss Coach, all without surgery or pumps!
