Have you seen this commercial?
“I lost 10lbs in 3 minutes on the new Ab Professor! You can too!”
Professional marketers know how to play on your emotions. They have it down to a science. Ignore their ads, their promises, their dreams of hope. Most are wasting your time and money.
America is obese because America is confused.
Every day we hear experts and opinions on what we should do to lose weight. We see the ads and the famous people promising us this or that will work. Yet we have tried everything out there and none of it works. Why?
There is one method that does work. And it works for 99.9% of all human beings. I will prove it later but for now, you must forget everything you have learned up to this point. Forgetting what you have learned will be one of the hardest things you must do to achieve permanent weight loss. Why?
- You will begin questioning our system and its simplicity.
- You will revert back to the bad habits that have added to your weight loss struggles.
- You will start counting calories, measuring things, trying to ‘burn things off’.
- You will overhear a girlfriend at a party say something like ‘I lost 10lbs in one day on my new diet, blah blah blah’ and you will think ‘I have not lost that much so her diet must be better than mine’. Or worse, you think ‘She’s so much stronger than I am, I’m a failure’.
Ladies…women exaggerate weight loss like men do with their fishing stories. Ignore them. Ignore the TV experts and the sexy commercials. Ignore the gadgets and gear. Ignore the noise in your head. If you do not ignore this ‘noise’ you will become impatient. And when you become impatient, you start wandering and looking for something to help you lose 10lbs in 1 day so you can be the envy at the next party. So you can be the one who says ‘I lost 10lbs in 1 day’.
So are we clear? You need to learn to forget about the past and look forward to the future. Think about this…America (you, me, him, her) is the most ‘nutritionally educated’ country in the history of the world yet we are the most obese. Think about that for a moment. We know more than the other countries yet we are worse off than they are.
Could it be we have learned the wrong things?
In part 2 of my series ‘The Truth about Weight Loss,’ I will discuss these ‘wrong things’ and how we have gotten to this point.
