[Jessica] Hi everyone! My name is Jessica and I’ve been with Personal Trainer Food for over four years now. One of the most common questions that we receive from our customers and our potential customers is how do we compare to other popular diet programs on the market.
What we wanted to do for you over a series of FaceBook Lives is compare our program to other popular diets. This week we chose to do Nutrisystem versus Personal Trainer Food.
I myself had the privilege of ordering Nutrisystem, trying the food, going through a few days on the program and so I just want to tell you about my experience.
Nutrisystem and Celebrity Endorsements
Obviously the first thing I did was go to Nutrisystem dot com and it brought me to a home page with Marie Osmond on it– I think she’s also over here on this box… yep, right over here.
And I remember that she had lost fifty pounds which for anybody that’s awesome weight loss; very, very cool. Congratulations!
Here’s What I Think When I See Celebrity Endorsements
But one of the questions that I had as a consumer is “how realistic is this?”
I mean, she’s a celebrity, she’s got a ton of money. Does she have a celebrity trainer, does she have a chef? Is she eating Nutrisystem every once in a while?
But I wanted to find some real stories. I looked around their website and I did actually find some real stories which made me feel a bit better.
There were a lot of people that I could relate to. I’m thirty, I’m a young professional and they had a lot of people on their website who had lost a decent amount of weight using their program.
Versus Personal Trainer Food “Endorsements”…
Just to tell you a little bit about how that compares to Personal Trainer Food is we never use celebrity endorsements.
We pride ourselves on using real people, just like you and I who can do the program.
Personally, I’ve met a lot of the people that you see on the website. They walk through the door, I see their weight loss journey, I see them come in week after week losing the weight and …to the personal point that we’re friends on Facebook.
You can go check out our Facebook page, you can see their images, you can even chat with them and ask questions!
Editor’s note: If you’re like Jessica and want to see real stories from people, here are some you can read…
So that’s kind of a neat aspect, and kind of how we’re a little bit similar and also different from Nutrisystem.
The Program I Chose
But, from there what I did was I decided to go to ‘order now’ and obviously choose a program.
The program that I chose to use from Nutrisystem was called Uniquely Yours, and the reason why I chose that one is because it was the most similar to Personal Trainer Food.
It offered options of shelf-stable and also frozen foods, you could customize your menu and you also got availability to speak to weight loss coaches.
Nutrisystem’s Uniquely Yours
- Shelf-stable meal and snack selections
- Some frozen food selections
- Menu can be customized
- Weight loss coaching
With Personal Trainer Food we only offer frozen meals, we do offer Weight Loss Coaches and you can always customize your menu or choose to speedload so that it’s nice and fast.
Personal Trainer Food Meal Plans
- ALL plans give you premium frozen meals
- Shelf stable snacks available
- ALL meal plan menus are customizable
- ALL plans come with Weight Loss Coaching at no charge
So we’re very similar with the Uniquely Yours program in that regard.
How I Decided Between Subscription and Delivery
After I chose the program, the second thing I decided to look at was my delivery options. With Personal Trainer Food (you know if you’re watching and you’re a customer), that we’ve always offered a one-time 28-day supply.
Recently in the last four or five months we’ve introduced a new subscription program: 14-days delivered to your door in either 2 to 4-week intervals.
And with Nutrisystem, they mainly push their subscription program. Their subscription program is a 28 day delivery, it also delivers every 4 weeks.
Nutrisystem Meal Delivery Options
- One-time: 28 days delivered at once
- Subscription: 28 days of meals delivered every 4 weeks
Personal Trainer Food Meal Delivery Options
- One-time: 28 days delivered at once
- Subscription: 14 days delivered every two or four weeks
Um, I wasn’t sure how long I wanted to stay on the program; I’m a young professional, I still like going out to eat with my friends, I like cooking and everything.
Editor’s note: Our subscription program based on our customer’s feedback. We found that many people wanted smaller deliveries and flexible delivery scheduling to allow for small freezers and busy lifestyles.
I just wanted to do the one-time delivery option. It took me a little while to find that option, but I found it hidden in the lower right hand corner and clicked on it.
Nutrisystem: Cancellation Fees and Hikes!
Much to my surprise, by choosing the one-time delivery option the price jumped drastically.
With the Uniquely Yours program if I chose the one-time delivery the base rate was $515 and with the subscription ummm I think it was around $374 or something. So they offer a big discount on subscription.
Curious, I went back to the subscription to look so I could see why wouldn’t I want to save this amount of money.
But I also found that if I wanted to cancel my subscription before my second order there was a $99 cancellation fee.
Personal Trainer Food: No Hidden Fees or Contracts
Since I knew I really only wanted to lose about five or ten pounds and use it for convenience, I still chose to pay the extra and go with the bigger order.
I didn’t want to pay the $99 cancellation fee and it would even out if I didn’t have to order more food.
With Personal Trainer Food, like I mentioned we offer both: the one-time, and also the two-week subscription program.
There’s no cancellation fees on Personal Trainer Food subscriptions; you just easily call 10 days before your next order ships, tell us you want to cancel and there’s no questions asked.
With the one-time 28-day it’s the same thing. You don’t have to cancel, you just get on and re-order if you would like.
Nutrisystem: You Can’t Schedule Your Delivery
Personal Trainer Food is delivered to your door in one shipment with all your frozen foods included.
Whereas with Nutrisystem I found out that they do two shipments.
You receive your frozen food in one shipment and then you receive the shelf-stable items a few days later. So that’s kind of a little bit about their delivery options.
Another thing I wanted to look at was having my food delivered with Nutrisystem on a Saturday.
This was important for me because I lived in an apartment complex and my apartment complex is open from about ten a.m. to about six p.m. at night. A lot of times I’m at work past six p.m. so it’s really hard for me to get to my apartment and I was really nervous to about that frozen food going bad.
Much to my surprise, I couldn’t choose my delivery date with Nutrisystem!
Personal Trainer Food: Delivered when You Want It
With Personal Trainer Food, we allow you to choose your delivery date, no extra charge and we also deliver your order in about one to four business days from shipping.
We even do Saturdays at no charge.
With Nutrisystem, I was given a window. It was going to take four to fourteen days to get to me.
That was a little inconvenient to have to keep following the tracking number and to follow two different shipments. One for the shelf-stable food and one for the frozen food.
What I Thought of the Tools and Resources
Nevertheless, I went through and I completed the order and I did receive a confirmation email. I really liked their confirmation email. It was very clean, it gave me a lot of information, and it took me to their back office for their customer.
They also have a pretty neat back office. Being a woman, I really like the forums that I could connect to other women nationwide who have used the program. Props to Nutrisystem on that one. They have been in business for twenty-five years so they have got a lot of feedback and had a lot of time to improve on that.
Whereas with Personal Trainer Food we’ve been in business about five, and we’ve had a lot of requests for that as well, so that is we’re currently working on.
We’re working on a new subscription back office for our customers to manage their options and we also have different tools and resources such as papers, a blog and everything that we’re updating to give you more freedom and information if you choose to have it.
Editor’s note: we have completed the back office, and are committed to making continued improvements to the tools and features based feedback from customers like you.
So pretty much there…
Unboxing: Nutrisystem Vs. Personal Trainer Food
[Michael] We have a question on taste.
[Jessica] Ooo, we have a question on taste! All right, who’s the question from?
[Michael] Betsy would like to know what the difference in taste is.
[Jessica] All right, Betsy! That’s awesome.
All right, so the next thing is like she’s asking is about the food. So when I got the food, I started to unpack the box and this is what the Nutrisystem food unpacked as and you can see some of the boxes where it was delivered.
This is the Personal Trainer Food box and this is how our food is delivered.
Um, the packaging for Nutrisytem is pretty nice. I was impressed. I actually saw it and went to our Creative Director and said “hey, is there something that we can do with our product?” And they’ve been looking at some different things.
But what I did after is obviously I was excited and I wanted to try the food. So to answer your question on taste, some of the items were good and then a lot of the items…
…I kind of struggled with to be quite honest.
How Does Nutrisystem Taste?
Now, I like food, I like cooking, I like going grocery shopping and I would consider myself a little bit of a foodie. But, for me this was an example of breakfast. As you can see, it’s a granola cereal. I had to supply my own milk and it was just a little bit dry for my own taste.
This was lunch, um… a couple of those were probably a few of my favorites. Guilty pleasure, but back in college I used to live on Hot Pockets and that really reminded me of a Hot Pocket.
Because I knew that I actually wanted to mention that that was one of my favorites, I actually cooked one up for you. This is what it looks like. Let me pull it apart a little bit for you so you can see.
That’s going to be your lunch. That one was one of my favorites.
And then here… here was one of the ones that was not so much one of my favorites. [picks up can of beef stew]
This is your dinner; it’s a hearty beef stew. And basically (if I can get it open) this is what it looks like.
You would heat that up and eat it as your dinner. And then you also get a snack which is more of a dessert-type snack; something like an apple pie or a piece of chocolate that you could enjoy.
Like I said, Nutrisystem’s taste was across the board. Some of it was all right; I didn’t mind this one. The breakfasts and some of the dinners for me were a little bit harder to finish.
Did the Frozen Food Arrive Frozen?
[Michael] We have another question. Jessica, Linda would like to know if the food– frozen food arrived frozen.
[Jessica] The frozen food for me did arrive frozen. It came in a different box, it was a lot bigger. It was a plain white box with some cardboard inserts and some air pockets with the dry ice. But when I unpacked it, what we did was we opened it up at the office and we let everybody try it. And I had no problem with the heating instructions and heating it up. It did come to me frozen. Good? All right.
How Does Personal Trainer Food Taste?
To compare Personal Trainer Food for you, I …honestly I know it might sound a little biased but I really enjoy Personal Trainer Food.
One thing that I can tell you as a personal experience is like I said, I’ve worked at the company for over four years and one of the most awesome things about working here is that we get free breakfast, free lunch, and a free I guess you would say mid-afternoon meat and vegetable.
I’ve literally eaten this food here pretty much every business day for four plus years.
I’m not sick of it, I do add some other stuff in but I truly like how it tastes and it is awesome that I work for a company that allows us to be healthy and tries to teach us how to avoid the processed sugars, and the processed carbs.
Here’s a Secret I Learned About Nutrisystem
Compare that to Nutrisystem… because I do like food and I am a little bit of a foodie when I was ordering the program I chatted to the Nutrisystem agents. I actually chatted to three different agents and I asked them what they recommended or if they’ve tried the program.
All three of the people that I spoke to had not tried the program at all.
So first of all it made me really grateful for Personal Trainer Food and for them valuing our health and that I get to eat it. It saves me money, it tastes great, it’s loaded with vegetables and healthy proteins and fats.
…I was really surprised that Nutrisystem hadn’t let their employees try the food or that they hadn’t used the program.
I can guarantee that if you call, you email, you chat right now you’re going to reach a customer service agent, a sales agent, or a Weight Loss Coach and every single one of them has tried most of the foods on our program or eat the food every single day.
Editor’s note: Even Mike, our CEO eats Personal Trainer Food every day. HE took this shirtless selfie and sent it to all our competitors, with a friendly challenge.
What About Special Diets?
[Michael] We have another question.
[Jessica] Ok.
[Michael] This one’s from Kim, and Kim would like to know…
[Jessica] Hi Kim!
[Michael] …if you have celiac disease do you have gluten-free products?
[Jessica] We do have gluten-free products!
By the way, the person telling me your questions, his name is Mike and sitting next to him is Niki. They’re actually two of our Weight Loss Coaches.
You can call them at 1-800-273-1686 or email them at [email protected] any time and they will help you customize a program that is completely what you are looking for– um avoids the gluten and things that you were talking about if you have Celiac disease.
We also have all the nutrition facts for our food on our website if you don’t feel like calling or emailing you can see all the nutrition information for each product. Good?
Tye Thinks the Food Is Good… What Do You Think?
[Michael] Excellent.
[Jessica] Ok…
[Michael] Tye says he’s tried the food. He thinks it’s really good.
[Jessica] Awesome, Tye! I’m glad you think it’s really good. I really appreciate that. Keep the feedback coming, I love it.
All right, see… so what else do I want to tell you about…?
Oh so this is exactly like what I said. I talked about the food a little bit so this is what a day looks like for each company.
This is like I said: for your breakfast, you have to supply your own milk. This is lunch. This is your dinner, and this is your snack. You are able to add a few items, like I said the milk or like if you get a bagel you can have cream cheese. And then you can add pretty much unlimited vegetables.
[laughs] They’re making fun of my Wisconsin accent right now– just so you know that’s why I’m laughing.
Um so yes, what did I say? Byehgul?
Anyways so this is Personal Trainer Food meals. This is going to be our breakfast, you usually get an egg and a meat.
This is going to be our lunch…
…and dinner, you’re going to get a large serving of meat, large serving of vegetables.
And you also get two snacks a day.
Do You Have to Add Anything to the Program
With Personal Trainer Food if you choose our large program you don’t have to add any other items but if you want to you are more than welcome to.
If you’re hungry at all, you can add unlimited meats, unlimited vegetables, unlimited eggs. And then you can also add cheese, ranch, blue cheese– there’s a lot of different items.
Basically you have a lot of items you can choose from that will make you feel full and satisfied.
I did Nutrisystem for about a week straight and most of the things you can add are vegetables and to tell you the truth, towards the end I was a little bit sick of vegetables.
Like I said, I’m 30 I’m a little bit active, I like taking my dogs for a walk. It’s pretty hard to get me to the gym but I like taking my dogs for a walk.
But I was hungry. It was tough. It was honestly tough for me.
Why You’re Hungry When You Do Nutrisystem
Now I know that’s because we have two different weight loss approaches.
With Nutrisystem, they’re more calorie-restrictive and they try to show you smaller portion sizes, they try to keep your calories I believe it was around nine-hundred to twelve-hundred (don’t quote me on that but I’m pretty sure that’s what I remember).
Whereas with Personal Trainer Food we believe in eating the right foods and eliminating the wrong foods.
We want you to eat unlimited– like I said, meats, vegetables, eggs, cheese, nuts, things of that nature and avoid those processed sugars and carbs. Like the starches, the potatoes, the rice.
And what we really believe is to continue eat and have healthy habits for a long time so that you don’t have to stay on our program forever if you don’t want to.
Most people use our program for about two to three months and then they might order it for convenience but then they know how to eat.
They go to the restaurant and they’ll order seafood and vegetables. They’ll go somewhere and they’ll get a big steak.
But it’s really easy to learn to choose the right foods and avoid the wrong foods versus worrying about calorie-restriction, if you have to have low-fat.
And there’s a lot of new scientific evidence out there supporting the idea of healthy fats, the idea of meats and vegetables over the calorie-restricted diets.
Editor’s note: There are many studies indeed. I’ve included a few for the curious minded at the bottom of this article.
Do You Have to Exercise to See Results?
Soooo let’s see, what other things do I have written down to talk about? We talked about exercise…
…like I said, it’s really hard to get me to go to the gym. One thing that I really liked about both programs is that they included like twenty to thirty minutes of gentle exercise. And you can still lose weight.
With Nutrisystem, they give you a large list of things that you could do; cycling, yoga… but they believe you should do it for thirty minutes a day.
Versus Personal Trainer Food? We say that you have to do about twenty minutes a day. That’s the biggest thing that we encourage; if you want to do something else you enjoy that’s fine.
I love that both companies are pushing to build those healthy habits, getting out there and being active without me having to go to the gym and sweat for three hours, be sore the next day, and starve myself.
I really liked that.
Cost: Nutrisystem Versus Personal Trainer Food
Now I’d to talk about pricing a bit more.
I know I mentioned that the one-time order here was five hundred and fifteen base price. And then there were upgrades that I was tempted to add and I did. I spent $40 for some shakes and then I also bought a container.
When it was all said and done it ended up costing me about $550.
I did really like the container, I use it a lot but the shakes were really sweet for me and because I’m not a huge fitness junkie or anything to be honest I really don’t need them.
One of the biggest differences with Nutrisystem versus Personal Trainer Food is the price. Personal Trainer Food has very clear cut pricing.
$469 for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
The subscription is basically cut in half minus a little bit. And then on our 28-day programs we do offer a loyalty code where you get $125 off.
Editor’s note: we’re rolling out even better rewards very soon, so make sure you get on board!
How Can You Save On Personal Trainer Food?
[Michael] Tye has another question, he’d also like to know if we have any specials going on.
[Jessica] We do! I’m really excited about this one.
We just launched an email this morning. It’s a buy one get one free offer. So if you order any one of our twenty-eight day meal programs right now you get your second one completely half-off. Oh, I’m sorry, I said buy one get one free! BOGO.
So you buy one twenty-eight day program you get the second one at half off.
That means that if you buy the REV program that’s a two hundred and sixty dollar savings for you so that’s even better than our loyalty program and we don’t offer that big of a discount regularly if ever. Very cool.
Editor’s note: Since filming this, we have created an even better deal for you than the expired deal mentioned above. Y’all ready for this?
Are on a Nutrisystem subscription and want to try Personal Trainer Food instead?
Just send us your cancellation mail dated within the last 14 days
and we’ll give you a code for $250 off any of our 28-day meal plans.
Ummm health benefits-wise I already mentioned that we really push eating the right foods whereas they’re just more of a calorie-restriction program.
I told you that you can call and talk to our awesome Weight Loss Coaches sitting back there at any time.
Editor’s note: she’s not kidding. Call one today at 1-800-273-1686.
What other questions do you guys have?
I know I mentioned a lot of different things that are related to my lifestyle.
Does anyone have questions about delivery, order process for either, taste, the program?
What about my teammates back there? Do you have any ideas, have anything that I forgot that our awesome audience might be interested in hearing about?
A Little More About Delivery
[Michael] Umm, what about delivery time?
[Jessica] Delivery time. I think I did cover delivery time but that’s a good one.
Basically with Nutrisystem, when you place your order you’re going to get your order delivered in four to fourteen days. You can pick your delivery option but it’s going to come to you in four to fourteen days and you could track it online.
And they did give you some notifications when your product was delivered.
With Personal Trainer Food we deliver anywhere in the continental US within one to four business days. Typically one to two days. (Editor’s note: she meant the contiguous 48 states; sorry AK!)
I would say that about seventy-five percent of the states for us it’s going to be a one or two day ship.
Free shipping here all the time. Free shipping with Nutrisystem if you sign up for a subscription.
Because I ordered the one-time program, I don’t believe I got free shipping.
What About Sweets and Cravings?
[Michael] So Linda would like to know if we offer anything to curb sweets or cravings?
[Jessica] Ooo, good one! I love my chocolate as well.
Umm, a couple different things and thoughts there. What we do have is a new butter sauce. These are just a couple of them that we have but we have a new one that we call Cinnamon Explosion Buttersauce. That is going to have a very … a sweeter cinnamon flavor.
And, we also allow you to have up to one apple per day.
We actually had one of my co-workers talking today that she added the cinnamon explosion sauce to that apple and cooks it and it tastes like apple pie when it’s done.
You can also find Creative Food Ideas in our back office and one of them is an Apple pie type filling that can do the sweet tooth.
But Fair Warning…
Now, I say that with caution. Be very, very careful because one of the things that we do try to do for you with the sweets is the longer you avoid them, after you get past the effects of withdrawal, you won’t crave sweets as much anymore.
Although I don’t really consider an apple a sweet, it’s good for you, it will take that bite away.
But once you stick to the program and get through those sugar withdrawals, you’ll be surprised at how much less you crave them.
Once you get to your weight loss goals, be careful but obviously you can have a bite or two of something here and there. just make sure it doesn’t lead to a slippery slope.
A lot of people can’t control it. They have their chocolate cake in their kitchen, they take two bites, and then they put it away. And then they know it’s there so an hour or later they’re going to go back and do it again.
And by the next morning that cake is almost halfway gone.
But, there’s other people who can just have a bit of ninety-percent cacao and they’re fine.
So once you get to those goals, definitely talk to our Weight Loss Coaches and find out what works for you.
Amanda Is Wondering About What to Drink On Program
[Michael] Amanda said that she really likes the food, she doesn’t seem to want to do Nutrisystem?
[Jessica] Thanks Amanda. Mike was just telling me– and you’re seeing that Amanda really likes the food, she’s not too fond of Nutrisystem but… oh is she just commenting?
[Michael] Yeah!
[Jessica] Oh I love it! Very cool, Amanda. Thank you so much!
[Michael] What about beverages? We get a lot of questions about beverages.
[Jessica] Oooo, beverages is a good one. And this kind of ties in with that sweet tooth thing.
Um, one of the things that I like to have for a beverage when I’m fasting; we didn’t really talk about fasting– Personal Trainer Food encourages you to start out with a twenty-four to forty-eight hour fast. And then you can also fast once a week if you want.
Now that’s pretty intimidating for a lot of people that haven’t fasted before, including myself.
Before I went through this process, I was like “you want me to not eat for forty-eight hours? I don’t think I can not eat for two hours in my life unless I was sleeping.”
But I did it the first time and twenty-four hours went by and I felt great.
Now the reason why I relate that to beverages was the fact that I would have hot tea and I would add some sugar-free imitation honey. That was sweet and it was satisfying so it kind of fits both.
Here Are Some Different (Easier) Ways to Fast
To continue on the fasting now that I’ve been on the program for awhile there are times when I’ll come in and I’ll fast for three days, four days.
I’m telling you, the more you do it the better that you’re going to feel, along with the intermittent fasting.
Or even just stop eating at like seven p.m. Have your dinner at seven p.m. and don’t eat again until like eight a.m. the next morning.
Your digestive system needs that break and it’s kind of like the process of natural selection, your body will go in and clean out the bad stuff and you’ll be left stronger and healthier.
So talk to our Weight Loss Coaches about fasting, check out our blog. It’s a really good experience if you haven’t done it.
What To Drink When You Fast
Other than that, for beverages you can have anything that doesn’t have sugars and carbs.
So I love sparkling water, I love adding lemon or lime to it. You can been do… this is my guilty pleasure right here– hiding back here a Diet Mountain Dew.
You can do diet soda. People are concerned about diet soda but that’s the least of your worries. So if that helps your sweet tooth or you need carbonation you go for it.
You can do the tea like I was saying. Here in Texas they love their unsweet tea I actually have become a pretty big fan myself.
You can do coffee with powdered creamer.
Your options for beverages are completely open as long as it doesn’t have sugar or carbs in. You can do drink mixes like a Mio.
All those are excellent choices.
Nutrisystem Vs.Personal Trainer Food: Maintenance
[Michael] What about maintenance? Would you say that the program– Nutrisystem compared to Personal Trainer Food– would you say they are both only for weight loss or could you do our program if you just kind of wanted the convenience of eating healthier?
[Jessica sighs] Ummm… if you’re going to live off this Nutrisystem for the long-term, I personally think that it would be very, very difficult.
Some things might be convenient like the fast food maybe you could… maybe you could get this for lunch and do your own vegetables.
But Nutrisystem has small portions. So you’re going to be hungry.
And it’s good for a decent amount of time. But again, if you wan to pick and choose, I’m sure with anything you could use it in a maintenance mode but I don’t think that you could purely do this program for like two years straight and be satisfied.
With Personal Trainer Food you have the option of either one.
You could do it where if you were in maintenance mode and you want to run out the door in the morning because you have a bunch of kids to take care of and you just want a quick breakfast that you want to feed yourself.
Or you can bring your food, like your lunch to work or at the end of a long day you can have a dinner.
I Eat Personal Trainer Food Almost Every Day
That’s a big one for me. After I’ve been working here for ten to twelve hours if I don’t have Personal Trainer Food in my freezer for once in awhile and I’m exhausted… I’m going to order a pizza. Or I’m going to order Jimmy John’s.
Having this here when it’s faster than fast food anyways is a really good go-to for me especially because I love how it tastes.
You could also stay on this food for indefinitely if you wanted to. This is going to have everything that you need. You don’t have to worry about supplementing. You’re not going to go hungry.
You can have the Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and Snacks program as long as you would like to.
We have people that I know since I’ve worked here that have been on it for years. Once you get to a point where you are satisfied, you’re going to get to a point where your weight loss slows down.
Obviously you’re not just going to dwindle away. You’re going to get to a healthy weight and you’re going to stay there.
Let’s Talk About My Favorite Foods
[Michael] Do you have any favorite recommendations of our food?
[Jessica] Ooo, Personal Trainer Food: my favorites…
I am a huge fan of the bacon and cheddar omelette for breakfast. I’m actually kind of a weirdo I love vegetables so I will add a vegetable packet to my omelet every once in awhile. That’s a big one for me.
I also like to do the egg patty with the maple sausage and I add salsa to my egg patties or avocado. You can actually add avocado to the program, you can add salsa if you want some variety. You can add hot sauce, which also tops one of my lists.
For lunch, I’m a huge fan of the Chicken Teriyaki.
I love the Mesquite Grilled Chicken that’s shown right there just because it’s so versatile.
Again, you don’t have to add anything. But if you want to, you can add bacon, you can add ranch, you can add cheese. You can put that on top of a salad. All that’s awesome.
I also love… personally for myself today I ate the Zesty Chicken Tenders for lunch. I like spicy food. So, Zesty Chicken Tenders and my vegetables with Sriracha Sauce on them; I’m sold!
I like the Apple Gouda Sausage, it kind of reminds me of my Wisconsin roots of brats.
I like the Gluten Free Chicken Tenders.
OH I like the new Turkey Meatballs– definitely try our Turkey Meatballs, those are awesome.
I like our new Green Onion Sausage. I mean, there’s a ton of stuff but those are probably my favorites.
Ok, Enough About My Favorites

The Science
Editor’s note: Jessica mentioned that there are a lot of studies out now that have shown that low-carb works better than the low-cal/low-fat for health and weight loss. Here’s a few recent random, controlled studies.
- A randomized trial of a low-carbohydrate diet for obesity.
- A low-carbohydrate as compared with a low-fat diet in severe obesity.
- Effects of a low-carbohydrate diet on weight loss and cardiovascular risk factor in overweight adolescents.
- A randomized trial comparing a very low carbohydrate diet and a calorie-restricted low fat diet on body weight and cardiovascular risk factors in healthy women.
- The national cholesterol education program diet vs a diet lower in carbohydrates and higher in protein and monounsaturated fat.
- A low-carbohydrate, ketogenic diet versus a low-fat diet to treat obesity and hyperlipidemia.
- Comparison of energy-restricted very low-carbohydrate and low-fat diets on weight loss and body composition in overweight men and women.
- Comparison of a low-fat diet to a low-carbohydrate diet on weight loss, body composition, and risk factors for diabetes and cardiovascular disease in free-living, overweight men and women.
- Perceived hunger is lower and weight loss is greater in overweight premenopausal women consuming a low-carbohydrate/high-protein vs high-carbohydrate/low-fat diet.
- Short-term effects of severe dietary carbohydrate-restriction advice in Type 2 diabetes—a randomized controlled trial.
- The effects of a low-carbohydrate ketogenic diet and a low-fat diet on mood, hunger, and other self-reported symptoms.

About Jessica
Jessica is a Texas transplant, originally born in Wisconsin. She grew up in a German family who loves German Potato Salad, brats with the bun, and beer. She was very active in high school but started gaining weight her last few years of college while having a social life…Eating whatever food was at her fingertips to fuel her busy life. Believe it or not, while in college, she actually got a degree in nutrition.
Jessica’s weight still yo-yoed after moving around from Wisconsin to Arizona to Texas, doing outside sales and then taking an office job, fluctuating 20 pounds in either direction depending on what’s happening in her life, even though she was eating what she thought was healthy. However, after taking the job at Personal Trainer Food and now working there for over 5 years, she now knows the right way to control her weight that actually works, drop some when she wants to, knows the right foods to eat to stay healthy, and just feels better in general.

Awesome comparison! I did a lot of research before deciding on PT. I’m a private chef and baker and been cooking for over 50 yrs. I’m definitely a FOODIE . At 300lbs taste and appearance rates high, Well to me PT hits the mark! Both my wife and I ordered the 28 day plan and doing great! Even after a week we have seen big changes including the way we look at food. Can’t help what my clients want but I definitely make great choices! Thank You PT and Niki! We will reorder after this 28 days is over. Looking forwards to the goal weight!!
