How can you eat fat, ignore calorie counts and still lose weight?
Easy! You just have to understand one thing: a calorie is not a calorie.
Everyone is crazy about calorie counts and fat and food manufacturers have responded by creating low-fat, low-calorie foods.
Does It Really Help to Count?
When you go to the grocery store, fat-free foods are everywhere– even candies have fat-free labels on them to make you think that somehow pure sugar is healthy. It’s really kind of an insult to our intelligence. And unfortunately you end up buying the candy thinking that it is “healthy” or at least “healthier.” Not only do you eat it but maybe you eat twice as much since after all, it is reduced-calorie and fat-free! Yippee!
And as a result, we are dealing with an obesity epidemic. Gastric bypass surgery is at an all-time high, costing a whopping $30,000 each!
Here we are, so “educated” about diet and healthy living, with all the calorie counts and fat grams listed out for us on the label. Yet we are among the fattest nations in the world. Something just doesn’t add up here!
Here’s Why Calorie Counts Don’t Work
Let’s go back how a calorie is not a calorie. We have very simple guidelines here at Personal Trainer Foods and one of them is to ditch the sugar and starches and eat according to your appetite instead. Ah…there is that little voice in your head saying: “But what if I eat too much? I NEED to know how many calories I’m consuming!
When you are consuming refined, processed carbs and sugars, your body feels malnourished. You could be consuming the right number of calories but after you eat a meal, you find yourself wanting to eat again soon afterwards.
Don’t believe us? Are you still thinking it is all about calorie counts and will-power? Think back to the last time you ate fast food, the emptiest calories you can find with all sorts of added sugars. Even if you value-sized your meal and ate over 1,000 calories, you probably felt completely disgusting after eating it. …but within an hour you were craving more food, weren’t you?
The One Calorie You Should Avoid
Your body is designed to eat whole, natural unprocessed foods so that it gets all the vitamins, minerals and nutrients that it needs to function. If you ate 1,000 calories of meat, vegetables, nuts and cheeses in one sitting you will be full for hours.
This proves that counting calories, and the statement ‘a calorie is just a calorie’ is a MYTH. It’s sugar calories that you must avoid!
Sugar stresses the liver, increases bad cholesterol and creates insulin resistance which leads to metabolic syndrome, obesity and Type 2 Diabetes. Sugar also increases cravings while simultaneously creating an addictive response in the brain. This why you feel like you can’t live without it!
